Unique facilities adopted by JFE Steel drum Surface treatment facilities ensure the cleanliness of the steel drums. RO equipments were installed to improve the quality of water. Both internal and external surfaces of the drums are iron-phosphating
treated.The cleanliness of the internal surface of the drum is enhanced, as well as the adhesion and durability of the external surface.
Triple-seaming Top, bottom, and body of a drum are integrated strongly by a triple-seamer.The triple-seaming makes it possible that edges of top, bottom and body of a drum
are rolled in perfect seven layers, which greatly increases resistance againstexternal shock. As a consequence, the triple-seaming effectively avoids the risk of breakage should drums drop off from high positions. In order to produce drums without leaks, helium leak-testers
were installed at all JFE steel drum plants in China.
Mechanism of Helium leaktester
A drum filled with helium gas will be placed inside of a vacuum chamber and detected by the
leak-sensor if helium gas leaking from the drum.
Advantages of Helium leaktester The helium leaktester is able to detect and find leak of 30μmΦ . No chemical reaction effects contents in the drums. A total inspection can be carried out without damages to inspected drums. Effect of the seam-smoother The overlap of the welding line and protuberances are removed improving the coating processes drastically. Electrostatic Inner Coating System Electrostatic coating is a coating method based on electrostatic theory. JFE Zhejiang plant hastaken the lead to use this advanced technology.The coating is given negative charge while drum surface is given positive charge during thespraying process. The coating can be well-distributed to not only the smooth surface but alsouneven parts and welding line.
